We are delighted to announce Seamans Building has recently achieved further ISO accreditation 45001:2018.  This Occupational Health & Safety standard has been developed to provide employee safety, reduce workplace risks creating safer working conditions for business all over the world.  Integrated into our company’s existing management processes, it follows the same high-level structure as other ISO Management system standards, such as our already gained ISO 9001 (Quality Management) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) systems.

A hybrid future for Seamans Building

Seamans Builders based in Bury St Edmunds have have recently installed 2 Electric car charging points to the front of the Head office at Elm Farm Park.

Seamans currently have 2 Hybrid cars within our fleet which require this facility, and we offer it to any guest who wishes to ‘top up’ on their visit to Seamans Building.

Seamans Builders, Bury St Edmunds – a sod cutting ceremony

Seamans Builders based in Bury St Edmunds began the construction of the first phase of the Elm Farm Park Commercial Units scheme, after successfully obtaining Planning Permission in 2016.

The site will comprise 3 offices and 9 high spec light industrial spaces, all located on the site between Thurston and Norton just off the A14 near Bury St. Edmunds.

Elm Farm Park consists of a series of former Victorian agricultural buildings with more modern offices built alongside, overlooking open countryside.

NFB Heritage Group Event 2018

Estimating Director Steve Reason, Seamans Building,  was a keynote speaker at the NFB Heritage Group Event on Wednesday 7 March 2018. His detailed presentation showcasing the extensive range of traditional skills Seamans Building offer and the works undertaken on the Grade 1 Listed Cupola House in Bury St. Edmunds was a huge success.

The NFB event  was held at the inspirational Monastery in Gorton Lane, Manchester. The Monastery is an impressive story of renovation and transformation from near dereliction to an award-winning centre of inspiration – the perfect venue.

Without these skills the industry will be unable to repair and care for our country’s historic buildings, highlighting the need for immediate, strong and sustained action to prevent further erosion of the skills base. National Federation of Builders

The event was devoted to Heritage Building, celebrating the skills that exist, looking at new crafts people and discussing procurement routes for heritage work. There was a lively  Q&A session after the keynote addresses. NFB Heritage Group members were joined by members of the NFB and construction companies.

 The launch of our heritage group at Eltham Palace, on 7 February 2017, provided us with an opportunity to bring together almost 100 like-minded individuals with a particular focus and interest in the built heritage environment, and address some of these challenges. Clare Watson, Chair of the NFB Heritage Group

This prestigious award follows on from the recent LABC Building Excellence Awards for ‘Best Commercial Building’ with the skilled renovation of Cupola House, a Grade I listed building in Bury St. Edmunds, and ‘Best Local Builder & Traditional Craftsperson’ for their consistent excellent standards of building and unique traditional skills.
