Seamans Building’s new Construction Director says he sees huge opportunity to build on the company’s reputation for quality and to grow all aspects of the business – particularly its public and commercial offering.
Martin Fisher joined the company in September last year, having more than 25 years of experience in the industry delivering complex construction projects both locally and nationally.
Martin said he was excited to join Seamans after being impressed by the depth of expertise and building knowledge across the company, from the senior management to the team of skilled tradesman.
He said: “Having worked within large organisations in recent years it sometimes feels that the industry has moved too far away from what we actually produce. The great thing about Seamans is we are a company of experienced professionals and tradesman who really understand the construction process – in essence, a real building company.”
Starting his career with an Ipswich-based construction company after graduating university, Martin progressed from assistant site manager to contracts manager within five years.
Martin stayed at the company for 18 years, working across the country for a variety of clients including BMW, Sony, Marston Inns and Cable and Wireless.
He later moved to a tier-one construction giant before returning to Suffolk at an Ipswich-based firm as Construction Operations Manager, where he stayed for six years.
Martin said that while there is always the allure of working on large scale projects, wherever in the country they may be, building in his home county of Suffolk is infinitely more rewarding.
“It’s always nice to do something in your hometown, or your home county – particularly building public buildings that you can see people using and enjoying,”
Martin will be working closely with the wider directorial team to further advance the delivery process and help steer the strategic development of the business.
“We believe these are really exciting times here at Seamans, with the opportunity to build on our established reputation for high quality restoration and domestic construction and advance our offering within the commercial, public and healthcare markets.”
